Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Michigan Autism Council

Thursday, August 25, 2016

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Christopher Pinter of Kawkawlin to the Michigan Autism Council.

The 12-member council was created by the governor in 2012 as an advisory body to review, adopt and implement the Michigan Autism Spectrum Disorder State Plan. This plan provides comprehensive lifespan support to individuals with ASD and their families through access to information and resources, coordination of services and implementation of evidence-based practices. The council must update the plan every year.

"I thank Christopher for his willingness to serve in this important role and help improve delivery of services for Michiganders with ASD," Snyder said.

Pinter is chief executive officer of the Bay Area Behavioral Health Authority, and previously served as the director of managed care and health policy. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan-Flint, and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan. He will represent adult service agencies and/or providers from a PIHP or CMHSP and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Jeff DeLay.

Pinter will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Sept. 30, 2019.
