LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Lori Ryland of Battle Creek to the Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board.
Created by Public Act 461 of 2014, the seven member board is housed within the Department of Health and Human Services. The board collects and analyzes information concerning medical and mental health services available to survivors of human trafficking, identifies state, federal and local agencies that are involved with issues relating to human trafficking, and coordinates the dissemination of information concerning medical and mental health services available to survivors of human trafficking in Michigan.
“I want to thank Lori for her commitment to serving on this important board. Her contributions will help ensure that Michigan is doing everything possible to put a stop to human trafficking,” Snyder said.
Ryland is the clinical director for Skywood Recovery, Foundations Recovery Network-Universal Health Services, and is an adjunct instructor for the addictions certification program at the University of Michigan. Ryland holds a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a doctorate from Western Michigan University. She will represent mental health professionals and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Jeffrey Jackson.
Ryland will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2018.
