LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Barb Pelak of Walker to the Self-Insurers' Security Fund; Second Injury Fund; Silicosis, Dust Disease, and Logging Industry Compensation Fund Board of Trustees.
The board oversees the funds administration, which is supported by insurers who write workers' compensation policies and employers who self-insure their workers' compensation liability. Their assessments cover all benefits paid by the funds administration and all administrative and litigation costs.
“I thank Barb for her commitment to serve and I am confident she will be an asset to this board," Snyder said.
Pelak is manager of disability management services at Meijer. She is a member of the Advisory Council and Board of Managers of the Michigan Self Insurers’ Association. She will represent employers that have been authorized to act as self-insurers and replace Douglas Green.
Pelak will serve a four-year term expiring April 30, 2020. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
