Third annual Relentless Positive Traction race promotes health and wellness among state employees and their families

Lansing, Mich. – State employees spent their Thursday night making a difference for Flint kids and Special Olympics while making health and wellness a priority, Lt. Gov. Brian Calley said.
The 3rd annual Relentless Positive Traction 5K was held on September 8 at the state Capitol. The annual fun run and walk coordinated by Calley and the Michigan Fitness Foundation, brought out 875 state employees and their families from 25 different departments, to promote health and wellness while raising money for charity.
“The State Employee 5K is a great opportunity for state employees to come together as a community, be active and make a difference at the same time,” said Lt. Gov. Brian Calley. “State employees are extremely generous and with their participation and donations we are able to donate more than $11,000 between the Flint Child Health and Development Fund and Special Olympics Michigan.”
All proceeds from the event benefit the Flint Child Health and Development Fund and the Special Olympics Michigan. When registering, participants were able to choose which organization their registration fee would benefit.
The registration fees, combined with additional donations from state employees resulted in a donation of $5,500 to Flint Child Health and Development and $5,800 to Special Olympics Michigan.
Jackson National Life was the title sponsor of this year’s race. Sponsorships cover the cost of race expenses, no taxpayer dollars are used.
