Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointments to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Jayne Courts of Caledonia, Venkat Rao of Grand Blanc and Bradley Uren of Pinckney, as well as the reappointments of Brian Peltz of Dearborn Heights and Andrew Mac of Plymouth to the Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Housed within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the 11-member board advises the department on issues affecting prescription drug coverage and Michigan Medicaid Programs.

"These individuals have extensive knowledge in this field and I am confident they will be a positive influence on this committee,” Snyder said.

Appointments:

Courts is the medical director of Internal Medicine/Administration for Mercy Health Physicians Partners. She also serves as a staff member with Mercy Health St. Mary’s Hospital and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Hope College and a medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. She will represent physicians and replace Louis Cannon.

Rao is a physician at Chest and Sleep Consultants. He holds a medical degree from Andhra University. He will represent physicians and replace Tina Tanner.

Uren is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan Health System. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan Technological University and a medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He will represent physicians and replace Keith Getz.

Reappointments:

Peltz is vice president and chief pharmacy officer for Henry Ford Health System, HAP – Midwest Health Plan, and previously served in the role of director of pharmacy – government programs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and a master’s degree in health system pharmacy administration from Wayne State University. He will continue to represent pharmacists.

Mac is the vice president of pharmacy operations for Sav-On Drugs Inc. He previously served as director of pharmacy operations for Specialized Pharmacy Services-West and director of pharmacy operations for Sav-On Drugs, Inc. Mac holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Wayne State University. He will continue to represent pharmacists.

Uren will serve the remainder of a two-year term expiring Oct. 1, 2017. All other members will serve two-year terms expiring Oct. 1, 2018.
