Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Michigan Health Endowment Fund

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Lynn Alexander of Bloomfield Hills, Jim Murray of Okemos and Michael Williams of Westland to the Michigan Health Endowment Fund Board.

The Health Fund’s purpose is to benefit the health and wellness of Michigan residents with significant focus on children and seniors throughout the state. Priority areas include infant mortality, wellness and fitness programs, access to healthy food, technology enhancements, health-related transportation needs, and foodborne illness prevention. In addition, the Health Fund provides a multi-year subsidy for individual Medicare supplemental coverage, or “Medigap”, to help senior citizens and individuals with disabilities in financial need.

 “I thank these individuals for their continued commitment to bettering the lives of Michiganders,” Snyder said.

Alexander is senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Presbyterian Villages of Michigan and president and chief executive officer of Your Aging Well Advisor. She previously served on the Commission on Services to the Aging and as director of the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging. Alexander holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Defiance College and a master’s degree in psychology from Lone Mountain College. She will continue to represent the interest of senior citizens.

Murray is the president of AT&T Michigan. Previously he worked as Deputy Chief of Staff for a Michigan Speaker of the House. Murray holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, and history from Central Michigan University. He will continue to represent the Senate Majority Leader.

Williams is the president and CEO of Orchards Children’s Services, Michigan’s largest foster care and adoption agency. Previously, he was president of Detroit-based Starr Vista Inc. Williams is an adjunct professor at Albion College, and received the “Heroes” award from Michigan’s Children in 2007. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Albion College and a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Eastern Michigan University. He will continue to represent the interest of minor children.

Members will serve four-year terms expiring Oct. 1, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
