LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of David Hoffman to the 70-2 District Court in Saginaw County.
“David Hoffman has deep roots in Saginaw County and an excellent reputation among his peers,” Snyder said. “I am confident he will serve the community with distinction as a district court judge.”
Hoffman has spent his legal career in private practice in the Saginaw area, having a diverse practice with an emphasis on family law. In 1988 he joined the law firm of Anagnost & Hall and was there until 1995 when he left to start his own successful firm. In 2011, he joined the firm of Smith Bovill, PC as a partner. Hoffman is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Illinois State Bar, the Saginaw County Bar Association, and the State Bar of Michigan Foundation.
He is a Saginaw and Midland County Circuit Court Mediator and is a Certified Adoption Attorney. He serves on the Board of the Family First Credit Union and the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, along with being a lifetime voting member of the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame. Hoffman earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1985 and his law degree from DePaul University College of Law in 1988.
He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Kyle Tarrant. Hoffman must seek election in November 2018 for a full six-year term.
