Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment and reappointment to the Michigan Carrot Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jared Oomen of Hart as well as the reappointment of Ryan Malburg of Hart to the Michigan Carrot Commission.
The five-member committee prepares and oversees the carrot marketing program budget to promote the advancement of Michigan's carrot industry.
"I thank Jared and Ryan for their commitment to marketing Michigan-grown vegetables," Snyder said.
Appointment:
Oomen works on his family farm which harvests carrots, asparagus, corn, green beans, zucchini, and winter squash. He also assists in field preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilizing, and pest control. Oomen holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. He will represent fresh growers and replace Richard Oomen.
Reappointment:
Malburg is the manager of Malburg Acres LLC. Malburg Acres grows carrots, sugar beets, rye, wheat, and asparagus, as well as finishing hogs and custom harvesting and planting. He will continue to represent fresh growers.
Members will serve three-year terms expiring Oct. 31, 2019. Appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
