Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Christopher Tracy of Richland as well as the reappointment of Louise Klarr of Jackson to the Michigan Natural Resources Commission.

The NRC works with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to conserve, protect and manage the state's natural and cultural resources for the use and enjoyment of current and future generations. No more than four members may be from the same political party.

“This commission does amazing work protecting our state’s natural resources and I thank Christopher and Louise for their commitment,” Snyder said.

Appointment:

Tracy is a partner and attorney at Honigman Miller Schwartz & Cohn. He serves on the board of the Kalamazoo Nature Center and is a member of the Michigan State University Kellogg Biological State Advisory Board. Tracy holds a bachelor’s degree in political theory from Michigan State University and a law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He will represent Independents and replace Tim Nichols.

Reappointment:

Klarr is a team member of the Kinship Conservation Fellows, an environmental leadership program that embraces market-based solutions to environmental problems. She is a longtime hunter and angler in northern Michigan. Klarr holds an associate’s degree in animal science from the University of New Hampshire. She will continue to represent Republicans.

Members will serve four-year terms to expire Dec. 31, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
