Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment and reappointments to the Dairy Marketing Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jeffrey Horning of Manchester as well as the reappointments of Eric Frahm of Frankenmuth and Corby Werth of Alpena to the Michigan Dairy Marketing Committee.

The 13-member committee oversees the budget and operations of the dairy producer marketing program, which supports the Michigan dairy industry.

“I thank these individuals for their commitment to effectively marketing Michigan dairy products,” Snyder said.

Appointment: 
Horning’s farm is a 6th generation family farm specializing in dairy. The farm’s focus is on high-efficient production cows. Horning Dairy has received numerous awards including the Milk Producers-Local Outstanding Dairy Cooperative Award and the Michigan Milk Producers State Winner Outstanding Young Dairy Cooperative. Horning holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Michigan State University. He will represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association and replace David Lott.   

Reappointments: 
Frahm is the owner and manager of Golden Elm Dairy. He previously served as an agricultural agent for Michigan State University Cooperative Extension Service in Tuscola County. He serves on the board of directors of the United Diary Industry of Michigan. Frahm holds a bachelor’s degree in dairy science from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association.

Werth is the owner, partner, and herdsman of Werth Dairy Farm. He serves on the advisory committee for the Michigan Milk Producers Association and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan board of directors.  He will continue to represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association. 

Appointees will serve three-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2019. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
