Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Board of State Canvassers

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Jeannette Bradshaw of Ortonville and Colleen Pero of Laingsburg to the Board of State Canvassers.

Created by the state Constitution of 1850, the board oversees the canvassing and certifying of statewide elections, adoption of ballot language for statewide ballot proposals, approval of voting systems and other tasks. The four-person panel is comprised of two representatives from the two major political parties.

"I thank Jeannette and Colleen for their continued commitment to this board and I am confident they will continue to effectively serve the people of Michigan in this role," Snyder said.

Bradshaw is a recording secretary and registrar for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 58 in Detroit. She was nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party.

Pero is the deputy director of the Department of Civil Rights, and previously served as vice president of Pero Consulting Inc. Pero was nominated by the Michigan Republican Party.

Members will serve four-year terms expiring Jan. 31, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
