Calley joins more than 140 leaders in signing support letter
Jan. 17, 2017
Lansing, Mich – Lt. Gov. Brian Calley today joined more than 140 state-level elected leaders from all 50 states in submitting a support letter for Betsy DeVos’ nomination for Secretary of Education to U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander. Sen. Alexander is the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions that will conduct DeVos’ confirmation hearing today.
“As Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos will put our kids’ needs first while creating an education system that helps all children succeed,” said Lt. Gov. Brian Calley. “The one-size-fits-all approach to education leaves too many children behind and Betsy understands the need to add innovative education solutions into our classrooms. President-elect Trump made the best choice for our children by nominating Betsy DeVos. I’m proud to join with leaders from all across our country to support her nomination and encourage the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions to ensure a swift confirmation process.”
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof also signed the letter submitted for the hearing.
