LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Tracy Nyberg of Skandia as well as the reappointment of Marianne Tear of Chesterfield to the Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the nine-member board evaluates and determines minimal entry level competency of veterinarians, and takes disciplinary action against any misconduct of licensees.
“I am confident Tracy and Marianne will do great work on this board and I thank them for their commitment to serving the public in this role to help ensure quality of life for Michigan pets,” Snyder said.
Appointment:
Nyberg is an associate veterinarian for Bayshore Animal Hospital. She holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a doctorate of veterinary medicine from Michigan State University. She will represent veterinarians and replace Lynn Happel.
Reappointment:
Tear is the program director of Veterinary Technology at Baker College of Clinton Township. She holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in biology from Wayne State University. She will continue to represent veterinary technicians.
Appointees will serve four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
