LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Laura Braun of Ovid to the Rural Development Fund Board.

Housed within the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the five-member board is charged with establishing the project proposal criteria for the Rural Development Fund. Projects selected by the department, based on the criteria set by the Board, are intended to improve and strengthen rural communities. No more than two members may be from the same political party.

“I thank Laura for her continued commitment to this board and I am confident she will provide positive input that will help develop Michigan’s rural areas,” Snyder said.

Braun manages and owns Golden Maple Farms, a cash crop and beef production operation in Ovid. She previously owned and operated The Shepardsville Corner Store. She currently serves on the board of directors for GreenStone Farm Credit Services and is a member of the County Policy Development Committee for the Clinton County Farm Bureau. Braun holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Eastern Kentucky University. She will continue to represent Republicans and the Lower Peninsula.

Braun will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2020. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
