Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Horse Racing Advisory Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the initial appointment of Ladd Biro of Warren to the Horse Racing Advisory Commission.

The seven-member advisory board was created within the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. It makes recommendations to the Gaming Control Board and the Legislature regarding the operation and promotion of horse racing statewide.

"Ladd has many decades of experience in horse racing industry which will serve the commission well," Snyder said.

Biro is the director of racing at Hazel Park Raceway and has more than 40 years of experience in the horse racing industry. He will represent owners or operators of horse racetracks in this state.

Biro will serve a four-year term expiring Oct. 31, 2020. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
