LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Robert Hughes of Ada to the Certificate of Need Commission.
The 11-member commission regulates and balances cost, quality, and access to Michigan's health care system. It also develops, revises, and determines approval for Certificate of Need standards. No more than six members can be from the same political party.
“I thank Robert for his continued service and am confident his work will benefit Michigan’s health care system," Snyder said.
Hughes is the president of Advantage Benefits Group. He has been a Junior Achievement teacher for seven years, a Big Brother for 20 years, and is the founder of Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine Gran Fondo cycling event. Hughes holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent companies not self-insured for health coverage.
Hughes will serve a three-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2020. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board
LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of William Dubas of Howell to the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board.
The 11-person board promotes the health, safety, and welfare of Michigan's children and families by funding local programs and services that prevent child abuse and neglect.
“I thank William for his commitment and dedication to improving the safety of families in Michigan," said Snyder.
Dubas is a safety instructor for Operating Engineers Local 324 JATF and is a Livingston County and Community Awareness Task Force volunteer. He completed the Wayne State Labor Studies Certificate Program and holds a West Virginia OSHA Safety and Health Specialist Certificate for Construction and General Industry. He will represent organized labor.
Dubas will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring Dec. 19, 2018. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy
LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Teri Hunter of Grosse Ile to the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy.
Housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 11-member board plays an advisory role overseeing the practice of massage therapists.
"I thank Teri for her continued dedication to the oversight of Michigan massage therapists," Snyder said.
Hunter is the administrator, secretary, and treasurer for RM Hunter Company. She previously served as president, vice president, and secretary for the Grosse Ile Township Schools board of education. Hunter completed a fellowship through Michigan State University's Michigan Political Leadership Program and holds a bachelor's degree in business education from Central Michigan University. She will continue to represent the general public.
Hunter will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2020. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Patrisha Mervenne of Bloomfield Hills to the Michigan Board of Speech Language Pathology.
This 11-member board housed in the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs oversees the licensure and practice of speech-language pathologists.
"I thank Patrisha for her continued work with the board and I am confident she will bring more positive input to this field," Snyder said.
Mervenne is manager of rehabilitation services for Children's Hospital of Michigan, previously serving as a speech-language pathologist. Mervenne holds a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology and audiology and a master's degree in speech-language pathology both from Marquette University in Wisconsin.
Mervenne will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2020. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
