LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Karin Gyger of Charlotte to the Michigan Autism Council.
The 12-member council was created by the Governor as an advisory body to review, adopt, and implement the Michigan Autism Spectrum Disorder State Plan. This plan provides comprehensive lifespan support to individuals with ASD and their families through access to information and resources, coordination of services and implementation of evidence-based practices. The council must update the plan every year.
"I thank Karin for her commitment to serve on this council. I am confident her work will have a positive impact on the lives of Michiganders with autism," Snyder said.
Gyger is a health insurance resource specialist and Affordable Care Act Ombudsman for the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and will represent DIFS. She replaces Catherine Kirby.
Gyger will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Sept. 30, 2018.
