Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments to the Talent Investment Board

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Doug Chaffin of Monroe, Rhetta Hunyady of Clio and Marilyn Moran of Onaway to the Talent Investment Board.
The Governor’s Talent Investment Board is charged with advising and assisting the Governor regarding compliance with the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. The board brings together employers, organized labor and community-based organizations including apprenticeship programs to make recommendations on how to best develop workforce talent across the state.
"I thank these individuals for their commitment to this board and to ensuring future generations have vast career opportunities in Michigan,” Snyder said.
Chaffin is the president and CEO of Monroe Bank & Trust where he previously served as executive vice president and senior lending manager. He is a member of the Government Relations Counsel for the American Bankers Association and past chairman and current member of the Michigan Bankers Association. Chaffin holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Indiana University – Bloomington. He will represent the private sector.
Hunyady is the vice president of education and training for the Flint and Genesee Chamber of Commerce. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business leadership from Baker College of Flint and is a certified Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator administrator and workshop facilitator. She will represent youth organizations.
Moran is the director of business development for Moran Iron Works and previously served as the executive director for the Otsego County Community Foundation. She served as president of the Mackinaw City Public Schools Board of Education and on the Board of Directors for the West Michigan Tourist Association. Moran holds a hospitality business graduate certificate from Southeastern Academy in Florida, attended Davenport Business College and holds a certificate from Lansing Community College Grantmanship Center. She will represent the private sector.
Moran and Hunyaday will both serve the remainder of three-year terms expiring April 15, 2017. Chaffin will serve an initial two-year term expiring April 15, 2019.
