LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Sharon Miller of Sylvan Lake to the Talent Investment Board.
The Governor’s Talent Investment Board is charged with advising and assisting the Governor regarding compliance with the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. The board brings together employers, organized labor and community-based organizations including apprenticeship programs to make recommendations on how to best develop workforce talent across the state.
"I thank Sharon for her commitment to this board and I am confident her background will allow her to help develop Michigan’s workforce,” Snyder said.
Miller is the Michigan talent architect for Consumers Energy. She previously served as the vice chancellor of external affairs and dean of economic and workforce development at Oakland Community College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oakland University and a master’s degree from Penn State University. Miller will represent the private sector and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Thomas Begin.
Miller will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring April 15, 2018.
