Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointment to the Michigan Public Service Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of new terms on the Michigan Public Service Commission for Norm Saari of East Lansing and Sally Talberg of Williamston, and the reappointment of Rachael Eubanks of East Lansing.

The three-member commission provides regulatory oversight of Michigan’s utilities and works to ensure safe and reliable energy at reasonable prices. No more than two commissioners can represent the same political party.

Saari has served on the Commission since August of 2015. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University and previously served in the Michigan National Guard. He will continue to represent Republicans.

Talberg has served on the Commision since July of 2013. She holds a bachelor's of science degree in Environmental and Natural Resources Policy Studies from Michigan State University and a master's degree in Public Affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas-Austin. Talberg will continue to represent Independents and serve as chair.

Eubanks was the director of public finance for Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. before joining the commission in August of 2016. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and will continue to represent Independents.

Saari will serve a term expiring July 2, 2019, Talberg will serve a term expiring July 2, 2021, and Eubanks will serve a six-year term expiring July 2, 2023. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
