Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the Investment Advisory Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of James Nicholson of Grosse Pointe Farms to the Investment Advisory Committee.

The committee reviews investments, goals and objectives of the state's various retirement funds. It may submit recommendations to the state treasurer, or direct the state treasurer to dispose of or enter into investments.

"I thank Jim for his continued commitment to this committee and look forward to his future input," Snyder said.

Nicholson is chairman and chief executive officer of PVS Chemicals Inc., a Detroit-based company which manufactures, distributes, and markets chemicals used in diverse industries around the world. He is chair of the Futures Foundation and the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan, and also serves on the board of the Michigan Colleges Foundation, Detroit Economic Club, PrivateBancorp Inc., and DTE Energy.

Nicholson holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University and master’s degrees in economics from both the University of Chicago and the London School of Economics. He will continue to represent the public.

Nicholson will serve a three-year term expiring Dec. 15, 2019, and he will continue to serve as chair for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
