LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Roger Curtis of Onsted to the Michigan Strategic Fund board of directors.
The 11-member board has authority over economic development and job creation in the state through the Michigan Business Development Program, Michigan Community Revitalization Program, Travel Michigan, private activity bonds, Community Development Block Grant awards and as fiduciary agent for the 21st Century Jobs Fund.
Pursuant to Executive Order 2016-23, the Director of the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs is removed from the board, and replaced by a person in the position of vice president or higher at either the Michigan Economic Development Corporation or the Department of Talent and Economic Development.
“I am confident Roger will continue to promote economic growth and opportunities for Michiganders in this role,” Snyder said.
Curtis, who is director of the Department of Talent and Economic Development, served as the president of Michigan International Speedway for 10 years, where he oversaw all administration, leadership and management of the multi-million dollar entertainment facility. Prior to joining MIS, Curtis worked in different roles at speedways all over the country, working to develop long-term success strategies. Curtis holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Indiana State University. He also serves on the Michigan Make-A-Wish Board of Directors and is the treasurer for the Onsted School Board.
Curtis will serve a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
