LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of James Tighe of Birmingham as well as the reappointments of Charles Kosal of Oxford and Shawn Wilson of Lincoln Park to the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund board of directors.
The seven-member board oversees trust fund expenditures and awards grants to eligible combat-era veterans and their families to relieve temporary financial emergencies or hardships.
“I thank these individuals for their commitment to ensuring Michigan’s veterans and their families receive the assistance they need,” Snyder said.
Appointment
Tighe is the president and CEO of the Michigan Fitness Foundation. He served eight years in the Aviation Branch of the U.S. Army and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Tighe holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from Boston College and a master’s degree in business from the University of Michigan. He will represent veterans and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of John James.
Reappointments
Kosal served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve as a military policeman for seven years and is a veteran of operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He is currently the office tax managing partner for the East Michigan practice of Deloitte Tax LLP, and serves as a member of Deloitte’s Strategic Tax Advisory Team. Kosal holds a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from Michigan State University's Detroit College of Law. He will continue to represent veterans.
Wilson served in the U.S. Army at Fort Drum as Military Police. He is currently deputy program manager of strategic planning for Federal IT Consulting. He previously served as the state executive director for the Department of Michigan Disabled American Veterans and the assistant state service officer for Veterans of Foreign Wars. Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in communication management from Southern Connecticut State University. He will continue to represent disabled American veterans.
Members will serve three-year terms expiring Feb. 25, 2020.
