LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Robin Bennett of Canton, as well as the reappointments of Trina Edmonson of Wyoming and Jennipher Wiebold of Kalamazoo to the Michigan Council for Rehabilitation Services.
Housed within the Department of Health and Human Services, the council was designed to oversee the purchase of goods and services from community rehabilitation organizations.
“I thank these individuals for their commitment to this council and to overseeing rehabilitation services across the state,” Snyder said.
Appointment:
Bennett is the program leader for Canton Leisure Services, a leisure club that engages with participants who have special needs in therapeutic recreational activities. She previously served as the mentor director and communications manager for Integrated Living Solutions. Bennett holds a bachelor's degree in creative writing and a master’s program certificate in nonprofit management from Eastern Michigan University. She will represent the Statewide Independent Living Council and replace Sarah Grivetti.
Reappointments:
Edmonson is the work force development program manager and veteran supports coordinator for the Disability Advocates of Kent County. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Davenport University. She will continue to represent disability advocacy groups.
Wiebold is an associate professor and coordinator of rehabilitation counseling at Western Michigan University. She holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Minnesota State University-Mankato and a doctor of philosophy in rehabilitation psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She will continue to represent disability advocacy groups.
Members will serve three-year terms expiring May 21, 2019. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
