Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Mackinac Island State Park Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Richard Manoogian of Grosse Pointe Park and Chuck Yob of Hesperia to the Mackinac Island State Park Commission. 

Formed in 1895, this commission oversees operations and maintenance of Mackinac State Historic Parks, including Fort Mackinac, historic downtown Mackinac Island, Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum, Mackinac Island State Park, Colonial Michilimackinac, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, and the Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park.

“I thank Richard and Chuck for their continued support of Mackinac Island and for ensuring these Pure Michigan resources are properly cared for and preserved for future generations," Snyder said.

Manoogian has served on the Mackinac Island State Park Commission since 1995 and will continue to represent Independents. He is Chairman Emeritus of the board of directors for the Masco Corporation and the Detroit Institute of Arts. He serves as director of Business Leaders for Michigan and Invest Detroit, and is a member of the Henry Ford Board of Trustees, the Smithsonian Archives of American Art Board of Trustees, and the Fine Arts Committee of the U.S. Department of State. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Yale University.

Yob previously served on the Mackinac Island State Park Commission from 1993-1999 and was appointed again in 2011. He will continue to represent Republicans. Yob is the retired president of Industrial Belting & Supply Inc. He previously served as a Republican National Committeeman and director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indiana/Michigan. Yob is a former director of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and former commissioner of the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Manoogian and Yob will serve six-year terms expiring April 12, 2023. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
