LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Hansel Monroy of Ann Arbor to the Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 15-member commission develops and maintains a unified policy and plan of action to serve the needs of Michigan's Hispanic and Latino residents.
"I thank Hansel for his commitment to serving on this commission. I am confident he will be a positive voice for the Hispanic and Latino communities here in Michigan," Snyder said.
Monroy is an extreme programming and lean agile enablement manager for Ford Motor Company. He is a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, founder of the Latino Cultural Center at Purdue University, and recently initiated the IT division of the Ford Hispanic Network. Monroy holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in IT and operations from Purdue University. He will replace Gilberto Guevara.
Monroy will serve a three-year term to expire December 10, 2019. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
