LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder issued the following statement regarding the death of Dr. Thomas Pleger:
“My heart is heavy upon hearing the news of Thomas Pleger’s passing,” Snyder said. “Dr. Pleger was a champion of higher education, and through his role as president of Lake Superior State University, he worked tirelessly to help ensure every student was equipped with the tools to succeed upon graduation. He was also an active member of the 21st Century Economy Commission, and his passion for Michigan and making it a better place was evident through every interaction with him. Our state has lost an inspirational Michigander far too soon, and I extend my condolences to Dr. Pleger’s family, friends, loved ones and the entire Lake Superior State University community during this difficult time.”
