Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Michigan Wheat Promotion Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Marc Hasenick of Springport as well as the reappointments of Sally McConnachie of Deckerville and David Milligan of Cass City to the Michigan Wheat Promotion Committee.

Housed within the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the nine-member committee oversees the wheat marketing program and is comprised of wheat farmers from across Michigan.

“These individuals have years of experience in the agriculture industry and I am confident they will do great work overseeing wheat marketing in Michigan,” Snyder said.

Appointment:

Hasenick is part owner of Hasenick Brothers, LLC a family farm that’s been in operation for more than 67 years. He also is the tactical logistics manager and pesticide application technician for Hasenick Brothers, LLC. He has practical knowledge of atypical management practices used in wheat production, is an active supporter of the Springport FFA, and serves on the Springport AgriScience advisory board. Hasenick holds a bachelor’s degree in crop and soil science from Michigan State University.  He will replace Carl Sparks.

Reappointments:

McConnachie is a managing member of Dave’s Dirt LLC. She has farmed for 37 years and has 1,000 acres of wheat, sugar beets, dry beans, corn, and soybeans. She is a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, Michigan Corn Growers Association, and Sanilac County Republican Party. McConnachie previously worked with Sandusky Dental Care. 

Milligan is the owner of Milligan Farms, LLC, where he has farmed for 47 years and has 4,100 acres. The farm grows wheat, soybeans, corn, and dry beans. Milligan was named Cass City Citizen of the Year in 2013, serves as a member of the National Wheat Association Wheat Growers Board, and previously served on the American Farm Bureau Wheat Committee.

Appointees serve three-year terms expiring May 31, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
