Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Juanita Bocanegra of Holland to the Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 15-member commission develops and maintains a unified policy and plan of action to serve the needs of Michigan's Hispanic and Latino residents.
"I thank Juanita for her commitment to this commission and I am confident her contributions will positively impact Michigan’s Hispanic and Latino community," Snyder said.
Bocanegra is an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office. She previously served as a summer associate, law clerk, and attorney for Rhoades McKee, PC. Bocanegra holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Grand Valley State University and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Carlos Sanchez.
Bocanegra will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring December 10, 2018. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
