Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the State Board of Accountancy

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Stephanie Bergeron of Birmingham as well as the reappointments of Jennifer Kluge of Grosse Pointe and Ola Smith of Kalamazoo to the State Board of Accountancy.
The nine-member board oversees licensure and certification requirements for certified public accountants and public accounting firms.
“These individuals have extensive backgrounds in accounting and I thank them for their commitment to this board,” Snyder said.
Appointment:
Bergeron is the president and CEO for Walsh College and president and CEO of Bluepoint Partners, LLC. She holds a bachelor of business administration from the University of Michigan and a master of business administration from the University of Detroit. She will represent certified public accountants and replace Richard David.
Reappointments:
Kluge is President and CEO of the Michigan Business and Professional Association, the Michigan Food and Beverage Association and the National Association for Business Resources. She holds a bachelor of business administration in human resource management from Michigan State University and a master of business administration in strategic planning/marketing from Loyola University. She will continue to represent the general public.
Smith is chair and a professor in the Department of Accountancy within the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University. Previously, she worked for the federal Internal Revenue Service, Barrow, Aldridge & Company, Deloitte & Touche, Ameritech Corporation, and Wayne State University. Smith holds a bachelor of business administration in accounting from the University of Detroit, a master of business administration in finance from Mercy College of Detroit, and a doctorate in accounting from Michigan State University. She will continue to represent certified public accountants.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
