Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Dr. Vicki Anton-Athens of Grosse Ile to the Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.

The nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with overseeing the practice of Michigan podiatrists.

"I thank Dr. Vicki Anton-Athens for her continued commitment to overseeing the podiatry profession in Michigan," Snyder said.

Dr. Anton-Athens is president of Athens Podiatry Group and has 31 years of experience in podiatric medicine and surgery. She served on the credentials committee for applications and appointments for all physicians at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital and as a podiatric residency trainer for the Oakwood Hospital System. She also was the project director for podiatric and adult foot and ankle surgery for numerous mission trips. Anton-Athens holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology from Lake Forest College and a doctor of podiatric medicine degree from the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. She will continue to represent podiatrists.

Dr. Anton-Athens will serve a four-year term expiring June 30, 2021. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
