Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the Michigan Appellate Defender Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of William Caprathe of Bay City to the Michigan Appellate Defender Commission.
The seven-member commission develops a system of indigent appellate defense services and oversees the State Appellate Defender Office and Michigan Appellate Assigned Counsel System.
“I thank William for his continued commitment to this commission and to overseeing appellate defense services,” Snyder said.
Caprathe was first elected circuit court judge of the 18th Circuit in 1980, where he served until his retirement in 2010. He currently operates a mediation and facilitation business associated with Professional Resolution Experts of Michigan LLC, and with Michigan Judicial Alternative Dispute Resolution PC. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University and a law degree from the Detroit College of Law. He will continue to serve as the recommendation of the Michigan Judges Association.
Caprathe will serve a four-year term expiring May 24, 2021.
