Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointment to the Correctional Officers Training Council

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Duncan MacLaren of Dafter and the reappointment of Matthew Fedorchuck of Okemos to the Correctional Officers Training Council.

The eight-member council develops minimum standards and requirements for state correctional officers.

"I thank Duncan and Matthew for their commitment to ensuring Michigan corrections officers are held to the highest standard," said Snyder.

Appointment:

MacLaren is the warden of the Michigan Department of Corrections Kinross Correctional Facility and has more than 28 years with the Michigan Department of Corrections. He previously held positions at the Hiawatha and Chippewa Correctional Facilities. MacLaren attended Lake Superior State University and is a graduate of the Corrections Academy, Sexual Harassment Investigators Training, Emergency Response Team New Recruit School, and the Department of Corrections Leadership Academy. He will represent the Department of Corrections and replace Bonita Hoffner.

Reappointment:

Fedorchuk is the deputy director of the Michigan Civil Service Commission. He has 27 years of human resources experience and is an executive committee member with the National Association of State Personnel Executives. Fedorchuk holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary social sciences and a master’s degree in public administration from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent the State Personnel Director.

Members will serve three-year terms expiring March 29, 2020.
