LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Trisha Deming-Burns of Linwood to the Library of Michigan Board of Trustees.
The 13-member board makes general policy and budgetary recommendations concerning the Library of Michigan to the Michigan Department of Education. In addition to the governor's appointees, the board consists of members appointed by the Speaker of the House, House minority leader, and both the Senate majority and minority leaders.
“I thank Trisha for her commitment and I am confident her experience will make her a great asset to this board,” Snyder said.
Deming-Burns is the director of the Bay County Library System, and previously served as the director of the Public Libraries of Saginaw. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University and a master of library science from Wayne State University. She will represent the Michigan Library Association and replace Kathy Irwin.
She will serve the remainder of a three-year term to expire October 1, 2019. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
