Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the MiSTEM Advisory Council

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Hina Baloch of West Bloomfield to the MiSTEM Advisory Council.

The 11-member council was created to advise the Governor, Legislature, Department of Talent and Economic Development, and Department of Education with recommendations designed to improve and promote innovation and collaboration in STEM education and prepare students for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

“I thank Hina for the work she will do on this council to ensure Michigan children are adequately prepared for their future careers,” Snyder said.

Baloch is the Manager of Global Social Impact and STEM Education for General Motors, and previously served as a program officer for Results for Development (R4D) – Center for Education Innovations. She holds a bachelor of business administration from Szabist Asia, and a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She will fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Kenneth Kelzer.

She will serve a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.
