LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Satish Udpa of Okemos to the Michigan Council on Future Mobility.
The 21-member council was created by PA 322 of 2016, and is housed within the Department of Transportation. The Council will provide the Governor and Legislature recommendations regarding changes to state policy to ensure Michigan continues to be the world leader in automated, driverless, and connected vehicle technology.
"I thank Satish for his commitment to ensuring Michigan continues to lead the nation and the world in auto mobility research and development well into the 21st Century,” Snyder said.
Udpa is executive vice president for administrative services at Michigan State University, president of the Michigan State University Foundation, and a university distinguished professor. He recently served on the MiSTEM Advisory Council. Udpa holds a bachelor’s degree from J.N.T. University and both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Colorado State University, all in electrical engineering. He will represent business, policy, research, or technological leaders in future mobility and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Steve Arwood.
Udpa will serve a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.
