LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jennifer Zieger of Wyandotte to the Michigan Travel Commission.

The Commission collaborates with destination marketing associations, nonprofit corporations and organizations to develop, promote and enhance Michigan’s travel and tourism industry. It also provides the Michigan Economic Development Corporation with input and advice regarding activities related to tourism in the state.

“I am confident Jennifer’s background and experience will be valuable to this commission and thank her for her commitment to promoting Michigan as the ideal travel destination," Snyder said.

Zieger is an area director of operations for Hotel Investment Services, Inc. She serves on the board of directors and the owner’s advisory committee for the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, as well as the Pure Michigan Strategic Plan Advisory Council. Zieger holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. She will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Lawrence Shuler.

Zieger will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Aug. 20, 2020. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
