Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Ronald Bush of Cassopolis to the Public Safety Communications Interoperability Board.

The Board oversees the Michigan's Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS), a 800/700 MHz radio system and telecommunications network that also provides public safety specific applications integrated into the network. The MPSCS provides statewide interoperability in digital clarity to its members in all 83 counties for local, state, federal, tribal and private partners.

The Board adopts procedures governing the organization and operations of the MPSCS and is responsible for advising the Governor on all interoperability aspects of current and future technology in the state to ensure the public safety community is well prepared today and in the future with the emergency communications ecosystem.

“Ronald has extensive experience in emergency management and security that will be instrumental to this board and help ensure interoperability in Michigan’s public safety communications systems,” Snyder said.

Sergeant Bush has been employed by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department since 1996, was appointed as the assistant coordinator for the Emergency Management Office in 2011, and previously served as a fire fighter with the St. Joseph Township Fire Department. He is a co-chair of the State Emergency Alert System Working Group, a member of the State Communications Unity Working Group, the Michigan Region 5 Homeland Security Planning Board, and is the assistant chair of the Michigan Region 5 Interoperability Communications Subcommittee. Bush holds a law enforcement certificate from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. He will represent local emergency first responders and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Dale Gribler.

Bush will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring April 30, 2019.
