Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Developmental Disabilities Council

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Colleen Allen of Southfield to the Developmental Disabilities Council.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the 21-member council advocates for people with disabilities on a statewide level.
“Colleen has years of experience advocating for people with developmental disabilities and her appointment to this council will greatly benefit Michigan,” Snyder said.
Allen is president and CEO of Autism Alliance of Michigan. She is the founder and previous director of the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities within the Department of Pediatrics at Henry Ford Health System. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree from Boston University, and a PhD. from Wayne State University.
Allen will serve a four-year term to expire Sept. 30, 2021.
