Friday, Oct. 6, 2017

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Steve Arwood of St. Johns to the State Waterways Commission.

Housed within the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the seven-member Commission is an advisory body responsible for the acquisition, construction and maintenance of recreational harbors, channels, docking and launching facilities, and administration of commercial docks in the Straits of Mackinac.

"Steve's years of experience should provide an excellent asset to this commission," Snyder said.

Arwood is the CEO of Miller Canfield Consulting, and previously served as CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and president and chairman of the Michigan Strategic Fund. He served four years on the Michigan Natural Resource Trust Fund Board and recently served on the Council on Future Mobility. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political theory and history from James Madison College. He will represent the general public and replace Gary Marowske.

Arwood will serve a three-year term expiring Sept. 18, 2020. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
