LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Steven Claywell of Battle Creek to the Talent Investment Board.
The Governor’s Talent Investment Board is charged with advising and assisting the Governor regarding compliance with the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. The board brings together employers, organized labor and community-based organizations including apprenticeship programs to make recommendations on how to best develop workforce talent across the state.
“I am confident Steven’s experience will be an asset to this board as they work toward developing workforce talent in Michigan,” Snyder said.
Claywell is the president of the Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council and previously served as a business manager and financial secretary for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 445. He is chair of the Kellogg Community College Board of Trustees. He will represent labor organizations and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Zane Walker.
Claywell will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring April 15, 2019.
