Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Michigan Barrier Free Design Board

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jeffrey Eischen of Clarkston, as well as the reappointments of Ronald Campbell of Flint and Jason Turkish of Huntington Woods to the Michigan Barrier Free Design Board.

The nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with reviewing and processing requests for exceptions to the barrier-free design specifications. It also makes recommendations for barrier-free design rules.

"I thank these individuals for their continued commitment to ensuring all people have proper access to facilities across Michigan," Snyder said.

Appointment:

Jeffrey Eischen is a senior mechanical engineer for Fanuc America Corporation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from the University of Toledo. He will represent individuals who have impaired hearing and replace Greg Pollock.

Reappointments:

Campbell is a principal planner and preservation architect for Oakland County. He also serves as adjunct faculty for architectural programs at Baker College and Lansing Community College. He has more than 40 years of experience working with older buildings and is a board member of the Michigan Historic Preservation Network. Campbell holds an associate’s degree from Mott Community College and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in architecture from the University of Michigan. He will continue to represent architects.

Turkish is a managing partner at Nyman Turkish PC., and operates and oversees one of the nation’s largest Social Security Disability practices. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan and a juris doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law. He will continue to represent the visually impaired.

Members will serve three-year terms expiring October 31, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
