LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Mark Reif of Saginaw to the Michigan Bean Commission.
The nine-member commission oversees research and promotes the bean industry in Michigan.
“I’m confident Mark’s background will be a positive asset to this commission,” Snyder said.
Reif farms more than 2,200 acres of corn, soybeans, dry beans, sugar beets, and wheat. He is a fifth-generation farmer and has farmed 20 years with his father. He was awarded the Michigan Sugar Young Farmer of the Year Award in 2014. Reif holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University. He will replace John Krick.
Reif will serve a three-year term to expire Dec. 31, 2020. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
