LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Shannon Simon of Byron Center to the Organized Retail Crime Advisory Board.
Housed in the Michigan Department of State Police, the six-member board was created in 2012 to compile annual statistics on organized retail crimes as well as recommend actions to further combat it. In addition to the Governor's four appointees, the board includes the state attorney general and the Department of State Police director or their respective designees.
“I am confident Shannon will do great work on this board to help make Michigan a safer state," Snyder said.
Simon is a self-employed wealth advisor affiliated with Forest Hills Financial and previously served the Target Corporation. He also served as a reserve police officer for the Slidell Police Department. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University and is a certified wealth strategist. He will represent the general public and replace Richard LeBlanc.
Simon will serve a four-year term expiring March 30, 2021. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
