Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the Michigan Education Trust Board of Directors

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Cheryl Bartholic of East Lansing to the Michigan Education Trust (MET) Board of Directors.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Treasury, the nine-member board oversees the function of the MET program. MET is a Section 529 prepaid tuition program that helps Michigan residents save for higher education while avoiding rising tuition rates. The MET board also serves as an advisory board for the Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP). MESP is a Section 529 direct-sold college savings program that helps Michigan residents save for higher education.
"Cheryl has done great work to help Michigan residents save for college and I look forward to her continued work on this board," Snyder said.
Bartholic is the senior vice president of commercial lending for Independent Bank. Previously, she served as vice president of commercial lending and in the Real Estate Division of the company. Bartholic holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University. She will continue to represent persons with knowledge, skills, and experience in the academic, business, or financial fields.
Bartholic will serve a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2020. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
