Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Michigan Board of Cosmetology

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Linda Ward of Big Rapids and Scott Weaver of Holt to the Michigan Board of Cosmetology.

The nine-member board advises and assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in overseeing the cosmetology profession.

“I thank Linda and Scott for their continued commitment to overseeing the cosmetology profession,” Snyder said.

Ward is a supervisor of CTE Extension Services and previously served as interim principal and cosmetology instructor for the Mecosta Osceola Intermediate School District. She holds a bachelor’s degree in trade, technical, and teacher education from Ferris State University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education. She will continue to represent cosmetologists.

Weaver is the co-owner and president of Douglas J Companies, is a licensed cosmetology instructor, an Aveda hair color Purefessional Educator, and a platform artist. Weaver holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University. He will continue to represent cosmetologists.

Members will serve four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
