Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Public Safety Communications Interoperability Board

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Lawrence Schloegl of Laingsburg to the Public Safety Communications Interoperability Board.

The board oversees Michigan's Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS), a 800/700 MHz radio system and telecommunications network that also provides public safety specific applications integrated into the network. The MPSCS provides statewide interoperability in digital clarity to its members in all 83 counties for local, state, federal, tribal and private partners. It also adopts procedures governing the organization and operations of Michigan’s Public Safety Communications System. The Board also is responsible for advising the Governor on all interoperability aspects of current and future technology in the state to ensure the public safety community is well prepared today and in the future with the emergency communications ecosystem.

“Col. Schlogel has many years of experience as a first responder and I am confident that experience will be a great asset to help ensure interoperability in Michigan’s public safety communications systems,” Snyder said.

Col. Schloegl is an active member of the Army National Guard and serves as a Post Commander of Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center. He also is a post commander for the Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Davenport University and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Air War College. He will represent local emergency first responders and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Curtis Parsons.

Schloegl will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring April 30, 2020.
