Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jordan Kennedy of Fowlerville as well as the reappointments of Peter Levine of Flint and Dwight McNally of Saginaw to the Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine.

Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the nine-member board evaluates and determines minimal entry level competency of veterinarians, and takes disciplinary action against any misconduct of licensees.

“I thank this group for their commitment to ensuring Michigan pets, livestock and service animals are properly cared for,” Snyder said.

Appointment:

Kennedy is a deputy press secretary in the Executive Office of Governor Rick Snyder. She is on the Farm Bureau’s Board of Directors for the Michigan Livestock Expo and was a member of 4-H for 12 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations from Spring Arbor University. She will represent the general public and replace Michael Bell.

Reappointments:

Levine is the executive director of the Genesee County Medical Society, executive director of the Medical Society Foundation, executive director of PPI Communications, and executive director of the Emergency Medical Center of Flint. He previously served as the program director for the Greater Flint Area Hospital Assembly and at the Highway Safety Research Institute at the University of Michigan. Levine holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in health behavior and health education from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He will continue to represent the general public.

McNally is a practicing veterinarian and the owner of Gratiot Animal Hospital. He serves as a board member of Covenant Medical Center and Covenant HealthCare System, president of the William McNally Family Foundation, and chairperson of the board of finance at Faith Lutheran Church. McNally holds a bachelor’s degree and a doctor of veterinary medicine from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent veterinarians.

Members will serve four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2021. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
