Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointment to the State 9-1-1 Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Steven Berenbaum of Birmingham as well as the reappointment of Walter (John) Bawol of Saint Helen to the State 9-1-1 Committee.

The 21-member committee, housed within the Michigan State Police, promotes the successful development, implementation, and operation of 9-1-1 systems throughout Michigan.

“I thank Steven and John for their commitment to ensuring Michigan’s 9-1-1 system works efficiently statewide,” Snyder said.

Appointment:

Berenbaum is a regulatory manager for AT&T. He holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Wayne State University School of Business Administration, and a law degree from Wayne State University School of Law. He will represent commercial mobile radio service and replace Yvette Collins.

Reappointment:

Bawol is a project manager for Matrix Resources. He has been involved in the public safety industry for 20 years, serving as the Emergency Management Coordinator for Roscommon, the 9-1-1 director for Roscommon County Central Dispatch, a certified training instructor for Success Communications, Inc., and most recently as a senior technical project manager for Pinnacle Technical Resources. Bawol studied business management at Wayne State University. He will continue to represent the general public with expertise relating to telephone systems, rural health care concerns, or emergency radio communications, dispatching, and services.

Members will serve two-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2019.
