Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Workers' Compensation Board of Magistrates

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of John Sims of Marshall to the Workers’ Compensation Board of Magistrates.
The 17-member board hears administrative claims for benefits and resolve disputes arising under the Workers' Disability Compensation Act.
"I thank John for his commitment to this board and to fairly and effectively serving the people of Michigan," said Snyder.
Sims is the president and an attorney for the law office of Sims and Stern P.C. He has been an active practitioner of workers' disability compensation law for 40 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, history, and literature from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Wayne State University Law School.
Sims fills a vacancy and will serve a four-year term expiring Jan. 26, 2021. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
